Abstract

A fin de simplificar la comprensión del metabolismo del calcio, es necesario establecer la presencia de tres universos diferentes pero interrelacionados; ellos son: a) el balance total del calcio en el organismo, b) el equilibrio en la concentración del calcio en el
espacio extracelular (espacios intersticial y vascular) y c) la regulación del nivel de calcio intracelular y los mecanismos bioquímicas involucrados.
