La artritis bacteriana aguda no gonocócica y la osteomielitis piógena son series y frecuentes problemas clínicos de la práctica hospitalaria. En ambos el organismo más frecuentemente aislados es el Staphilococo aureus (1) 2). Sin embargo, en los últimosaños se observa una incidencia cada vez mayor de otros gérmenes, como los bacilos gram negativos: Escherichia coli, Pseudomona aeruginosa, Serratia marscenses (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) e incluso especies de salmonella, generalmente no typhi (1) (3) (4) (6).
