Abstract

En el quinquenio 86-90 en el consumo familiar de los peruanos se redujo en 70%, la miseria preparo el auge de sucesivas epidemias: malaria, dengue, y cólera. En la tercera semana de enero de 1991 el cólera arremetió de modo implacable en Piura, Chimbote, Chancay y el Callao. La pesadilla de enfermar y morir repentina o galopantemente, castigaba al pueblo peruano con mayor dramatismo que el desastre ocasionado por elFenómeno del Niño en 1983.
