Abstract

La vida constituye un valor superior y es la base de sustentación para todos los demás valores.

La muerte como episodio final de la vida, es un evento tan natural y frecuente como el nacimiento. Como fenómeno biológico y como proceso clínico debería tener su lugar en la formación y en el bagaje de conocimientos del médico. Sin embargo, esto no es siempre así, con frecuencia el profesional de la salud se encuentra no preparado psicológicamente y médicamente para manejarlo, haciendo que su actuación en muchos casos no beneficie al paciente (1).
