Abstract

Daniel Carrión, a ciento dieciocho años de su muerte es, probablemente por siempre, el personaje más importante de la Medicina Peruana y con alcance universal. Mucho se ha dicho y se ha escrito sobre su vida y la importancia de su legado.

Podemos distinguir dos corrientes entre los que han investigado y escrito sobre Carrión. La gran mayoría de los historiadores de la medicina nacional ha ensalzado a Carrión empleando adjetivos superlativos como mártir, héroe, protocientífico, positivista, entre otros. Uno de los más importantes representantes lo fue el doctor Carlos Lanfranco La Hoz y ahora lo es el doctor Gustavo Delgado Matallana que recientemente publicó una enjundiosa recopilación sobre Carrión.
