Abstract

El cáncer cervical en un problema importante de Salud Pública en los países en vias de desarrollo. Constituye cerca del 30% del total de neoplasias en la mujer, en Latinoamérica (1,2) y es la principal causa de muerte en mujeres en el Perú (3). Existe un rol comprobado de ciertos genotipos de papilomavirus humano (HPVs por sus siglas en Inglés : Human Papillomavirus) en la patogenesis del cáncer de cuello uterino, siendo la infección por ciertos tipos de HPV, el principal factor de riesgo para el desarrollo de cancer cervical (4,5,6,7,8).
