Abstract

Objective: To describe the knowledge, attitudes and evidence-based practices of the physical therapy professors from a university in Peru. Material and methods: Observational, descriptive and transversal study. The instrument used was the questionnaire designed by Jette et al., modified and validated by Conislla et al. Results: Participated in the study 56 therapy professors, 46 of them answered and returned the questionnaire. The majority was familiar with bibliographical search engines (82.7%). 95.7% reported interest in learning or improving their skills necessary to incorporate EBP into their daily work. In a typical month, 69.5% read from 5 to fewer articles and 69.6% used the scientific literature for making decision 2-10 times. The most important barrier was insufficient time (56.5%). Conclusions: physical therapy professors reported knowledge in fundamentals of EBP and medical search systems. In addition, they are interested in learning or improving their skills; however, they recognized the need to increase the use of evidence in their habitual practice.
