Abstract

This is the case of a patient whose upper left limb functionality was targeted for improvement through the application of somatosensory stimuli during postural awareness exercises and the use of mirror therapy. The intervention was based on the neurodevelopmental framework, the Bobath method, and the occupational performance model. Similarly, soft adaptations (elastic splints) were used to perform functional activities and increase the patient's independence in activities of daily living. In the same way, the Barthel index, the Lawton and Brody Scale, a goniometer, and a dynamometer were used to measure their progress in occupational performance. The applied techniques showed better functionality and independence. Occupational therapy treatment offers effective results in the recovery of voluntary movement in patients who have suffered a stroke.
